Full description - Solo Flights Festival
An 80-year-old former British code breaker attends a Remembrance Day service in England. She looks back on her life and the secrets about her work and identity that she has held for over 50 years. Will she ever be truly known by her children? How will she be remembered?
Written and performed by June Ballinger and inspired by her mother’s work at Bletchley Park during WWII. Directed by Janice Goldberg.
June Ballinger was last seen on the Passage stage in Slippery As Sin by David Lee White in 2012. June has performed on Broadway (Pack of Lies with Rosemary Harris) and off-Broadway (The Chelsea Theatre Center, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Primary Stages, The Working Theatre). Favorite Regional experiences have been at the Actors Theatre of Louisville; The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey; The Great Lakes Theatre Festival and The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Television includes various daytime soaps; Saturday Night Live and Law and Order.
She has been Passage Theatre’s Artistic Director since 1997 and has produced the world premiere works of many established as well as emerging playwrights. She has created a number of interview-based plays in New York through her ensemble Word for Word. She is a long time supporter of the 52nd Street Project and is a member of New York’s Ensemble Studio Theatre and The Actors Center.
