David White

David White (Associate Artistic Director/State Street Project) joined Passage in 2003.

He received his B.A. in Theatre from the University of Missouri, Kansas City in 1991 and his M.F.A. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1994.  Before joining Passage, Mr. White worked for the Three Rivers Shakespeare Festival in Pittsburgh, serving as Assistant Artistic Director and Director of Outreach.  In addition to his work with the Festival, David founded Chance Theatre, a theatre company committed to creating new dramatic works about AIDS.  He subsequently moved to Chicago where he worked as an actor with Northlight Theatre, Bailiwick Repertory and Light Opera Works, among others.  He was also a member of two Jeff Award winning ensembles for his work in Next Theatre’s Are You Now or Have You Ever Been… and The Incident.  Mr. White also taught acting classes for youth at the Evanston Arts Council and the Youth Theatre Coalition of Chicago and English Composition courses at St. Augustine College; a ‘bridge’ college serving the Hispanic communities of Chicago.  Following his move to New Jersey, he became a mentor/artist for Passage Theatre’s State Street Project, before coming on board as Managing Director. In 2004, David became Associate Artistic Director and Director of Education. He currently coordinates the State Street Project and directed last season’s SSP production of Nightlights. He created the play If I Could, In My Hood, I Would…; an SSP production about the dangers of gang violence, and is currently working on the next SSP production entitled Fire Girls.
